As if I could hear her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She&#8217;d always follow it with <em>How was your day?<\/em> Every day was better when she wrote to me. I should have told her that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her days were hard. Her days were sad.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>I never do anything right.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That was her favorite; she wrote it a lot.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The best part of my day was when she&#8217;d pull me out right before bed to get her final thoughts down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Writing helps me sleep.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sometimes she missed a day. Sometimes she missed a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>I wish things were different.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Me too.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>It hurts. I don&#8217;t want to hurt anymore.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I understood.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I knew I wasn&#8217;t her first, but I still loved her so much. When she took me out of her drawer, I could see the shelf filled with all those who&#8217;d come before me. The shelf I&#8217;ll never know.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I wasn&#8217;t her first, but they weren&#8217;t her last.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Dear Diary,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>How was your day?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Mine could have been better. You know, sometimes I think you&#8217;re the only one who understands me.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I tried. Her honesty helped.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Dear Diary,<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I miss that. <em>Dear Diary. <\/em>So simple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It had been coming for a long time\u2014my whole life.
