I posted <a href=\"http:\/\/izzyking.com\/index.php\/2024\/10\/26\/blog-2024-quarter-4-goals\/\">my goals<\/a> for the quarter three weeks ago. This post will be a continuation of that post\u2014specifically, I\u2019ll be going through my accomplishments (and misses) from the first month of the quarter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I made a list of things I wanted to get done in the fourth quarter. Here\u2019s what I did in October of 2024:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXdm9mAi-WDp8ShKlI8xxyIFgkKk626bLvzsxICLE6SdeJLAZ2naXV8A4wBR9_ZjiCPciwoj2gIiG_8-GsP6Lsj4fsgRO9KgeDLDiY7EBQYESCpkAAgKWDpoi7huLFq2pvdJPluTsmnd_NH-Q_QCvRCffW9F?key=cChBQfDd7X8eu2UzIaeLNN1_\" width=\"624\" height=\"883\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Goals<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Release Newsletter.<\/strong> I missed the deadline of November 1st. I\u2019m pushing it back to December 1st, and I\u2019m really hoping to release Man\u2019s Best Friend (my reader magnet) alongside the first newsletter. After the first one, the newsletter will come every month on the 1st.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Blog Weekly.<\/strong> I\u2019ve done great with this. I have actually been keeping a couple posts ahead of schedule so I don\u2019t get overwhelmed with the schedule. I ran out of posts this week, though. So I\u2019ve got to get a new backlog going.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Post Mindfully.<\/strong> My focus has mostly been on <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/hrmkingizzy.bsky.social\">Bluesky<\/a>, but I took a few days off of social media because of the American election\u2014for my mental health. I\u2019ll be back to it before this blog post goes live.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Draft Man\u2019s Best Friend.<\/strong> This story was initially going to be a short story, but it\u2019s quickly approaching novella length. The plan is still to release it as my reader magnet for my newsletter. My first newsletter will also include a link to it. Fingers crossed I get it done, beta read, and edited before the end of November.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"340\" height=\"403\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXf1lJfwpHI1WTS_TYP-UflFFCtXE3OwOrwN8MLgp90MaSWYlps4ar0Z8vVzv-XKred4AEGjaZiVblVvR6D80MLBxdOxSwGYUsr1oaObXTtJqp5vYoCCw62JH1_vuMFBghh4m8OthWGfTjcM6AZe9GlPyXQJ?key=cChBQfDd7X8eu2UzIaeLNN1_\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Reading<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Read:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/51190882-the-empress-of-salt-and-fortune\"><em>The Empress of Salt and Fortune<\/em><\/a> by Nghi Vo. I finished this book on October 17th. I\u2019ll be writing up a review of it very soon, which I will post here, to Storygraph, and to Goodreads.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Start Reading:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/60774117-broken-sky\"><em>Broken Sky<\/em><\/a> by Morgan K. Bell. I started this one halfway through the month, but I\u2019m not very far in. I\u2019m going to try to finish it before the end of November.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Words<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Goal. <\/strong>My goal for October was 10,000 words.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Total.<\/strong> I wrote 15,558 words, putting me over my goal by 5,558 words.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"624\" height=\"189\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXe0_DGvd6sHyHKZkLujgqKy4EbmLmYqjqFvevMh-1tJZue5XqKl9bjd2bK9JfGaO5UVhq_dmKvVN0hLec2VTWkIVMh-nemifKXYnI0Aj0ob8ZjTrLMtDgQtxM8PvhNPdo3OI1dvAz75WZYvyRP3nAMxlEo?key=cChBQfDd7X8eu2UzIaeLNN1_\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, I\u2019m happy with what I accomplished in October. I\u2019m not going to beat myself up for the things I missed, because, in the end, I did really well. I was productive and I did well keeping up with my peers on social media. November is the next milestone.
